Discussion Board week 4 CS875

Hello Professor and class. The Delphi technique is an approach for predicting that implements the gathered technique of a panel of industry leaders through a model protocol of sessions involving questionnaires and feedback without practicing the survey participants information. This iterative procedure assists in taking down complicated problems by achieving a reliable consensus from a panel of professionals. The background of the Delphi technique or method was developed as a Cold War strategy plan. This technique is named after Delphi a Greek oracle. "Olaf Helman and Norman Dalkey of Rand Corporation developed at the beginning of the Cold War after General Henry Arnold ordered a report on future technologies that could be useful in future military endeavors."(Monday.com, 2024). Important characteristics of the Delphi method are anonymity, iterative feedback, group response and using experts. Steps in implementing the Delphi process include the following: choosing a facilitator, identify experts, define the research question, carry out those response and feedback rounds, and act on your discoveries using the research techniques.

Another decision making technique is the Nominal Group Technique. This technique is termed as a model approach for gap brainstorming that incorporates input from everyone and makes it easy for fast agreement on the perceived importance of challenges, drawbacks, or solutions. In the Nominal Group Technique, when numbers of a group are ready, all people display their best concept, and proposals are then mentioned and their precedence Is set for each idea by the whole team using a point system architecture. The primary difference in the Delphi technique is that the Delphi technique depends on concealing the information of the participants, iterative surveys to collect professional ideas from a distributed group, while Nominal Group technique uses modeled in person group talks to create perspectives and concepts and achieve consensus with each individual involved in the study inputting their thought during each question and answer period.

I would appreciate it if I received feedback on my discussion board post this week. Your response is appreciated because it will allow me to see a variety of perspectives on a topic. In my opinion both techniques discussed in this post are a structured form of brainstorming. Brainstorming helps and asking for feedback is like a form of the technique because it involves pulling everyone's thoughts together to get a more well rounded perspective on this topic of decision making methods. Please do not feel obligated to respond to my discussion board post.
