PBS is showing "Eyes on the Prize" Next Week after raising over $800,000 to pay for licenses to cover royalty payments to Warner Brothers for the use of "Happy Birthday to You!". In the documentary, a group is shown singing the song to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Next time you are at a birthday party, make sure you keep an eye out for the thugs from ASCAP and BMI prior to performing the song. Otherwise, you might have to pay royalties for your "performance". The song generates $2,000,000 a year in royalties for Warner Brothers.
